What types of content do you produce?

Check out our content solutions and services here.

I have a need for content. How should I proceed?

Send us an email, give us a call, or submit a request here. Creative Director Matt Nagy will reach out to arrange discovery discussion either via phone, virtual meeting, or in-person meetup.

What happens during a discovery discussion?

This is probably the most critical step in the process. We want you to share your vision for your content. Whether it’s a single video or a whole suite of solutions you need, we’re here to get as much information as you can provide.

We’ll also ask a number of general questions, such as:

  • Who’s your intended audience?

  • Where will this content be distributed?

  • What’s your desired timeline for delivery?

  • Who will be the PoC for this project and what other parties are involved?

  • What’s your review and approval process like?

We’ll also describe the typical process of production for your needed content. This conversation is also an opportunity for you to ask us questions and help us provide clarity.

What happens after a discovery discussion?

We take all of the information and produce a written proposal that includes an overview of the project, a scope of work, pricing, and our standard terms and conditions. We’ll then send the proposal for you for review.

What if the proposal does not meet my budget expectations?

Tell us! Producing content is not an exact science and there are many solutions to challenge. Many times, our job is to reframe expectations based on what was requested vs. what can we done for specific price. We want to work with you so that we can meet your budget and exceed your expectations.

How much does video content cost?

There’s a lot of factors that go into producing content, however the most basic cost drivers are labor and equipment. The more labor or equipment is required, the higher the cost. We work closely with our clients to tailor each project to their budget. By keeping your ROI potential in mind, we use multiple stratgies to maximize output and minimize costs.

How long will it take to produce content?

We like to work backwards from a delivery date. Small-form projects are often produced in a matter of days or weeks. Long-form projects can often take months due to the complexity of the content.

The best advice we can give you is to understand the internal processes of your organization. If your approval process is lengthy or requires people at multiple levels to weigh in, make sure you account for that when discussing a schedule with us.

Do you have a rate sheet?

Yes, a rate sheet for core services is available upon request.

Do you give discounts?

We like to say that there’s a solution for every budget. We find it best to have a conversation about any challenges you might have so we can provide workable solutions that fits your budget and your expectations.

What about Federal contracting? Do you have a Capabilities Statement?

Yes, we work with several Federal agencies and contractors. You can find our capabilities statement here.

Do you produce content on location?

All the time! We’re constantly producing content outside of a base here in the Washington, DC metro region. We’re happy to travel to you or, in some cases, work with our extensive network of contacts to supplement our crew with talented creatives in your area.

Do you have a studio or can you provide a space for productions?

While we don’t own a studio space, we work with a number of partners in the Washington, DC region and across the country to provide spaces for productions if needed. We have resources to provide studios for testimonials, panel discussions, podcasts, or corporate office space. If you’re in need of something specialized, we’ll work with a Location Manager in your region to identify options for your ideal spot.

What about remote/virtual production?

We use a number of platforms to produce content recorded remotely. Usually, this type of content ranges from panel discussions and subject matter expert interviews to speaker presentations with slides. All you need is an internet connection and we can make your virtual content shine!

Do you provide videography for meetings, conferences, or events?

Yes, we’ll happily provide videography services for a wide variety of corporate events. Those services often include video testimonials with customers/members/subject matter experts, recording or panel discussions and/or speaker presentations, and capture of footage for marketing and promotion materials, including social content.

Are you insured?

Yes, a Certificate of Insurance can be provided upon request.

Do you do wedding videography?

Unforunately, that’s not Origin Story’s area of expertise.

How many reviews do you offer?

Though every project is different, we typically offer reviews at the following common stages of post-production:

  • Interviews: A transcript of each interview is provided to the client

  • Scripting: A draft of the full script, then a draft for approval after notes and feedback

  • Style Frames: A review of the boards for notes and feedback, then a set of updated frames for approval

  • Video Cuts:

    • Review Cut: The fully assembled video, complete with all necessary footage, all graphics, any voiceover/narration, and music. We consider this cut to be about 85-90% complete

    • Approval Cut: Upon incorporating notes and feedback from the Review Cut, we send a cut of the video for final approval, with all visuals and audio polished and ready for delivery

What file formats are your deliverables?

We’ll deliver your content in the format you specify. We’ll ask a number of questions during the discovery discussion to make sure we know how your content should be delivered. Here’s some of our most commonly requested formats:

  • Video: mp4, mov (ProRes)

  • Audio: wav, mp3

  • Captions: SRT

Do you offer captioning and translation services?

We offer both closed and open captions for accessibility on the web, social media, and Section 508 compliance. For translation, we can provide either script translations or subtitles and voiceover in another language.

For all translation services, we require our clients to approve any translations before delivery.

I noticed a mistake in a deliverable. Can it be fixed?

Mistakes do occassionaly happen. In the majority of cases, they are easily correctable. If it’s something we missed, we’ll fix it as quickly as possible at no cost.

In some cases, we are provided with incorrect information or assets from outside of Origin Story’s control, which may mean additional costs could be incurred to correct the error.

Additionaly, mistakes or changes that were approved or signed off on earlier during the review process may incur additional costs to update.

Do I own the video content?

Yes, you have full ownership over any deliverables and raw footage created by Origin Story as our services are considered a Work for Hire. We strive to make sure that any assets used in the creation of your content are properly licensed to your organization for use in the deliverables we provide.

With that said, should you choose to re-purpose or use pieces of the content beyond their original intent, it’s possible certain licensing may extend to those uses. It’s best to check with us if you plan to re-use certain parts of your content such as music or stock video/imagery.

Ownership does not extend to any hardware, software, equipment, or services used in the creation of your content.

Do you provide project files or raw assets?

Typically, what you are paying for is finished deliverable(s), however if requested, we’re happy to add delivery of project files or raw source assets, such as camera footage, for use internally. Just let us know and we’ll included it as part of our proposal. It’s your content, we’re happy to provide it!
